Cooking With a Barbecue
For those who have no idea what a barbecue is, the time has arrived
to wake up and smell the coffee. Barbecue is a widespread culinary phenomenon
in the world of today. Not only is barbecuing practiced in the domestic
front, but some catering services provide barbecues as well. In fact,
some families barbecue on a regular basis. This is what makes the barbecue
stand out amid other kinds of cooking.
Preparing a barbecue involves a lot of toil. Barbecuing is one of those exceptional forms of cooking, which require specialized equipment. The environment for barbecuing itself plays a very important role in the entire business. Depending on the environment, barbecues can be divided into two types - outdoor barbecues and indoor barbecues.
For outdoor barbecues, the bare necessities are the barbecue pit and the barbecue grill, apart from the fuel and the food to be cooked. A barbecue uses different types of fuels for cooking. The most commonly used fuel is liquid propane. Domestic gas can also be used in some models of barbecue grilles that use gas as fuel. Charcoal is another fuel that is popularly used. Charcoal is popular mainly because of the fact that it produces more heat and cooks the barbecue more effectively. When it comes to cooking a barbecue, the choice of fuel is quite important. For those who wish their steaks well done, and that too, quickly, charcoal is the right choice. For people who wish to use their domestic gas supply line, rather than to encounter the hassles of purchasing charcoal separately, gas driven barbecue grilles are the best choice.
In the case of a barbecue, the cooking takes place by the application of high amount of heat. An alternative piece of equipment that may be used instead of the barbecue grill is the barbecue smoker. Regardless of whether the barbecue is done using a smoker or a grill, the food cooked in barbecues carries a distinct taste and aroma.
As far as cooking was concerned, the term barbecue was often used to refer to roasted steaks of beef, or other forms of meat known as pork. Social gatherings where barbecued food is served are often referred to as barbecues.
Whoever is under the notion that barbecuing is restricted to the above-mentioned types of food is mistaken. There are astoundingly large numbers of recipes for cooking using barbecues available online and also in several cook books. The art of the barbecue has evolved extensively to accommodate almost all kinds of food. Nearly everything from vegetarian to non-vegetarian items can be made into delectable dishes using barbecues.
No barbecue is complete without the unique flavoring of what are commonly referred to as condiments. A common type of condiment is the barbecue sauce. Without these condiments, every dish prepared using a barbecue grill would have tasted the same. Barbecue sauces have regional variations and add the special kind of flavoring to make a barbecued preparation taste unique.
In short, cooking with a barbecue is worlds apart from other kinds of gastronomic ventures.
