There are lots of great barbecue recipes out there, no doubt about it. People love cooking outdoors and often enjoy dishes like barbecued beef, pork, poultry, fish and vegetables. There are lots of different ways to prepare these dishes on the grill or smoker of your choice. For a good start, try the following barbecue recipes during your next cookout.

Classic Barbecued Ribs

5 lbs pork ribs 1 ½ cup tomato ketchup 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup white wine vinegar 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp red pepper 1/8 cup molasses

On a charcoal or gas grill, cook ribs over medium heat for approximately 1 ½ hours. On the stovetop in a medium pan, combine all sauce ingredients and cook over low heat, stirring frequently until completely blended. Cover ribs with sauce, turn, and coat other side. Cook ribs for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, basting occasionally and turning frequently.

Grilled Salmon

4 wild-caught Alaskan salmon filets Bottle of Italian salad dressing

This recipe is simple yet delicious. Marinade filets in Italian dressing overnight for best results. Cover the surface with aluminum foil so that the fish doesn't flake apart and fall through. Heat your gas or charcoal grill for about twenty minutes, then place marinaded fish on the heated foil. Grill for around eight to ten minutes on each side, or until the middle of the fish is no longer pink.

Easy Barbecued Chicken

Frying chicken, separated into pieces Barbecue sauce or marinade of your choice (see rib recipe for a good blend)

Chicken is inexpensive and does great on a charcoal or gas grill. Marinade your chicken overnight or at least for a few hours for best results. When you're ready to cook it, heat charcoal or gas grill for approximately 30 minutes. When grill is around 400 degrees or charcoal is glowing and ashed over, place marinaded chicken on the cooking surface and grill for about ten to fifteen minutes on each side. Baste frequently with sauce and turn often.

Barbecued Corn on the Cob

8 ears fresh corn on the cob Melted butter Salt and pepper

Heat gas or charcoal grill to approximately 350 degrees. Remove the husks and silk from all corn and rinse thoroughly. For this simple yet delicious dish, you can either wrap the corn ears in foil or lay them directly on the cooking surface. Before cooking, cover with butter, salt and pepper. Turn often until corn is cooked evenly, for about ten minutes total.
